Silverdale
Hi Don…
The Celina & Silverdale School photos I sent you
two weeks ago have drawn so much response that I
have been encouraged to go through my mother’s
photo album one more time and I have put
together another dozen photos – many of them
with names – for the enjoyment of your readers.
I am planning on coming
Up Nort
later this summer, and Violet (Rude) Hall has
promised that she will share her photo album
with me…so there may even be some additional
photos to share with you in the Fall.
I also appreciate you posting my website
address. I originally formatted the
website for wide-screen monitors, but I have now
reformatted the website so it will fit on
regular-size monitors for easier viewing.
Warm Regards,
Ross Swanson

Silverdale
Hello
Don:
Here
are four photos from 1926 – 1936 of the
Celina School and the Silverdale School. I have added the names that
were anointed on Marion (Rude) Swanson’s photo album, and I
apologize ahead of time for any spelling errors.
Most of people in the photos are no longer living –
although I understand that Clara Dahl is very much alive
at the age of 90+. I suspect there will be second
and third generation people who will recognize the
names, if not the faces.
Regards,
Ross

Ross Swanson of
Redding, California
visited his Aunt Vi
Hall of Greaney last
month to research
his family history.
His mother Marion
was a sister to Vi
and they were raised
on a large farm in
Silverdale. Ross had
sent me a number of
e-mails this past
year and he created
a very nice Birthday
Card for his Aunt Vi
which we posted on
the web site. He
also created an
interesting
Newspaper format
about us being
"Twins". I wish I
had the talent and
the computer program
to create such
things for the Cook
web site.
Below
find the articles
based upon his
impressions of what
he had observed this
summer in
Silverdale.

Ross Swanson visits his
Aunt Vi Hall
August 15, 2011,
my wife Muriel
and I joined
Ross Swanson and
his Aunt Vi Hall
for breakfast at
the Montana
Cafe. Ross
had sent me a
number of
e-mails this
past year. He
created a very
nice Birthday
Card for his
Aunt Vi which we
posted on the
web site. He
also created an
interesting
Newspaper format
about us being
"Twins". I wish
I had the talent
and the computer
program to
create such
things for the
Cook web site.
But at this time
I have about all
I can do just to
maintain the web
site in the
simple form.
Ross lives
in Redding,
California. His
Aunt Vi (Violet
Rude, Novak)
Hall lives in
downtown
Greaney. She has
operated Vi's
Store for the
past 55 years.
Vi is the
daughter of
Chris 79,1964 &
Gunild 72,1965
Rude of
Silverdale. Her
older sister
Marion (Ross'
mother) passed
away in 1997.
Her brother Nels
(Joyce) Rude
died in 1999.
Vi's sister
Ellen (Donald
82,2002) Johnson
lives at the
Spectrum
Apartments in
Cook. Ross'
cousins in the
Cook-Orr area
are Cheryl
McCormick, Diane
(Dale) Long and
Dale (Tammy
47,2008)
Johnson.
Ross has led an
interesting and
fulfilling life
as a Project
Manager of some
large commercial
projects. One
being the
restoration of
the Queen Mary
which is now at
Long Beach,
California.
Muriel & I
stayed over
night on the
Queen Mary which
is now a Hotel.
He also was
involved in the
MGM Grand Hotel
in Reno, Nevada.
He had not been
back to visit
his Aunts Vi and
Ellen in many
years and he
wanted to touch
base with his
history. .

Vi, Ross
and yours
truly at the
Montana Cafe |
