Notice of Death

sent by Linda Northey

Harry G. Northey of Minden, Nevada, formerly of Lake Vermilion-Cook

Date of Death:  13 July, 2016

Harry was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, and spent his first summer at Camp Vermilion for Boys in 1950 as a camper.  He enjoyed his time there so much he returned the next summer and every summer thereafter for the next six years.  He was a canoe guide and counselor and took many boys on canoe trips into the Quetico, Crane Lake, and Boundary Waters areas.  Harry was famous for the pies he always made for the boys on his canoe trips.  The Camp Vermilion Cook prepared the dry pie crust mix for him and he would simply add lake water to it and roll it out on the bottom of the canoe.   Harry and his wife Linda lived on Lake Vermilion for 10 delightful years where they made many wonderful friends and cherished memories.  They relocated to Nevada in 2005 to be closer to Linda’s family.  At Harry’s request no services were held.  Memorials may be sent to Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry - Camp Vermilion, in Harry’s name.
